Still in Minnesota

Saaaaaaaaaad! Why am I still here??

Well, now that I've worked as a camp counselor for the Okinawa kids again this year, I'm really really ready to go to Japan. Seriously. I had so much fun for the 18 days they were here. We went to a Twin's game (they won), Mall of America (bought some jeans and didn't lose any of the kids!), Valley Fair (tornado warning), and of course the local mall (twice..!)The counselors, in addition to not letting the children hurt themselves or run off into the wilderness, had to conduct tutoring sessions every available day at 4pm. I had 10 junior high students. They're loud. And oddly enough do not want to do their homework. It was a challenge figuring out how to help the five loud kids and the five quiet kids because even though the loud ones want more attention, they also want to learn. So I couldn't just ignore them...

In any case, they had a good time. They went on a homestay weekend, they rock climbed, went swimming, fishing, played basketball, played soccer, played baseball (they like sports), had a cookout or two, ate smores, hiked to the chapel around the lake, oh yeah, and had classes. It was a busy time. I MISS THEM!

So yeah, I'm anxiously awaiting the 24th. I. Want. To. Go. To. Japan.

In the meantime I'll study my Japanese. I'm also planning to do a sort of midwest road trip in order to say goodbye to my relatives and best friends before I leave for a year. Yeeeeeeeah. Laters.
